This Chocolate Espresso Banana Bread combines ripe bananas, cocoa, and espresso for a moist, flavorful loaf that’s both indulgent and energizing perfect for coffee lovers!
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
3 ripe bananas, mashed
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp instant espresso powder
1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
3/4 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. In a large bowl, whisk melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.
4. Add eggs, mashed bananas, vanilla, espresso powder, and sour cream. Mix until combined.
5. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and stir until just incorporated.
6. Fold in chocolate chips if desired.
7. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
8. Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
9. Cool in pan 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a mocha twist, drizzle cooled bread with melted chocolate and espresso glaze.
Use dark chocolate chips for richer flavor.
