A decadent and silky chocolate orange cheesecake with a buttery biscuit base, rich chocolate filling, and a hint of zesty orange perfect for special occasions or indulgent dessert nights.
Ingredients
200g digestive biscuits (or graham crackers), crushed
100g unsalted butter, melted
600g cream cheese, room temperature
200g dark chocolate, melted and slightly cooled
150g caster sugar
3 large eggs
150ml sour cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
Zest of 1 large orange
2 tbsp orange juice
Optional topping: whipped cream, chocolate curls, or candied orange peel
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease and line the base of a 9-inch (23 cm) springform pan.
2. Mix crushed biscuits with melted butter until well combined. Press mixture firmly into the base of the pan and chill while preparing the filling.
3. In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and sugar until smooth and creamy.
4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing on low speed after each addition.
5. Stir in sour cream, vanilla, orange zest, and orange juice until incorporated.
6. Fold in melted chocolate until evenly combined.
7. Pour the filling over the chilled crust and smooth the top.
8. Bake for 50–60 minutes, until edges are set but the center still has a slight wobble.
9. Turn off the oven, crack the door open, and let cheesecake cool gradually inside for 1 hour.
10. Remove, cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
11. Top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or candied orange peel before serving.
Notes
For extra orange flavor, add a few drops of orange extract or liqueur (like Grand Marnier).
Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for a smooth, lump-free filling.
To prevent cracking, bake in a water bath or place a pan of water on the oven rack below.
Best served chilled with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate.
