Description
Juicy, savory meatballs simmered in a tangy cranberry barbecue sauce the ultimate crowd-pleasing holiday appetizer or dinner dish.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (or half beef, half pork)
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 cup milk
1 can (14 oz) jellied cranberry sauce
1 cup barbecue sauce
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar (optional for extra sweetness)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
3. Form into small 1-inch meatballs and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
4. Bake for 15–18 minutes, until browned and cooked through.
5. In a large skillet, whisk together cranberry sauce, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar.
6. Heat over medium until smooth and bubbling.
7. Add baked meatballs to the sauce and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
8. Serve warm as an appetizer or over rice for a hearty meal.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add a pinch of chili flakes or a dash of hot sauce to the glaze.
These can be kept warm in a slow cooker for parties.
Turkey or chicken can be substituted for a lighter option.
