Ingredients

- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups powdered sugar (for icing)
- 3 tablespoons milk (for icing)
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In another bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
- Roll the dough into balls and place them on a baking sheet, leaving space between them.
- Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden.
- Let the cookies cool completely on a wire rack.
- For the icing, mix the powdered sugar and milk in a bowl until smooth. Add food coloring if desired.
- Spread or pipe the icing on the cooled cookies and let it set.
Notes
Store in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.
