Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour heart-shaped cake pans.
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the creamed mixture alternately with milk until fully incorporated.
  6. Add pink food coloring until the desired shade is reached.
  7. Pour the batter evenly into prepared cake pans.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Let cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
  10. For frosting, mix powdered sugar with milk until smooth; add more milk if necessary.
  11. Frost the cooled cakes and decorate with sprinkles if desired.
