These Salted Caramel Apple Bars combine tender spiced apples, buttery crumble layers, and a drizzle of salted caramel for the perfect cozy fall dessert.
Ingredients
**For the crust and crumble:**
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
1 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 tsp salt
**For the apple filling:**
3 medium apples, peeled and diced
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
**For topping:**
1/3 cup salted caramel sauce
Flaky sea salt, for garnish
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugars, melted butter, and salt until crumbly. Press 2/3 of mixture into the pan for the crust.
3. In another bowl, toss apples with flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
4. Spread apple mixture evenly over the crust.
5. Sprinkle remaining crumble mixture on top.
6. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until golden and bubbling.
7. Cool slightly, drizzle with salted caramel, and sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
8. Let set before cutting into bars.
Notes
Use tart apples like Granny Smith for the best flavor balance.
Store in the fridge for up to 5 days; reheat slightly before serving.
For an indulgent touch, serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
