Description

A traditional and hearty Italian lasagna made with layers of rich meat sauce, creamy béchamel, and melted cheese.


Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. Brown the ground beef and sausage in a skillet; drain excess fat.
  4. Add marinara sauce to the meat mixture; simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, eggs, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  6. Spread a layer of meat sauce in a baking dish.
  7. Add a layer of cooked noodles, then a layer of ricotta mixture, and a layer of mozzarella cheese.
  8. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with meat sauce and mozzarella on top.
  9. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the top and cover with foil.
  10. Bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly.
  11. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute ground meat with sautéed vegetables.
