A delightful homemade mint lemonade perfect for hot summer days.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups water (1 cup for syrup and 3 cups cold)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice
- 1 cup fresh mint leaves (1/2 cup for syrup, 1/2 cup for garnish)
Instructions
- Combine 1 cup of water, 3/4 cup of sugar, and 1/2 cup of mint leaves in a saucepan. Heat on medium until the sugar dissolves. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Let the syrup cool.
- Juice enough lemons to yield 1 cup of fresh lemon juice.
- In a large pitcher, combine 3 cups of cold water and the lemon juice.
- Strain the cooled mint syrup into the pitcher and discard the mint leaves.
- Add fresh mint sprigs and lemon slices to the pitcher. Stir to combine.
- Chill in the refrigerator. Serve over ice with garnishes.
