A delightful homemade mint lemonade perfect for hot summer days.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups water (1 cup for syrup and 3 cups cold)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves (1/2 cup for syrup, 1/2 cup for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 cup of water, 3/4 cup of sugar, and 1/2 cup of mint leaves in a saucepan. Heat on medium until the sugar dissolves. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Let the syrup cool.
  2. Juice enough lemons to yield 1 cup of fresh lemon juice.
  3. In a large pitcher, combine 3 cups of cold water and the lemon juice.
  4. Strain the cooled mint syrup into the pitcher and discard the mint leaves.
  5. Add fresh mint sprigs and lemon slices to the pitcher. Stir to combine.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator. Serve over ice with garnishes.
