Description

Delight in warm, chocolate custard-filled doughnuts that are perfect for brunch or family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 cup chocolate custard (store-bought or homemade)
  • Powdered sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl. Mix well.
  2. Whisk together the egg, milk, and melted butter in a separate bowl.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes.
  6. Punch down the dough, roll it out to 1/2-inch thickness, and use a doughnut cutter to cut out circles. Let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Heat oil in a deep fryer or pot to around 350°F (175°C).
  8. Fry the doughnuts for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  9. Drain the doughnuts on paper towels.
  10. Fill each doughnut with chocolate custard using a piping bag and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
