Description
Indulge in this rich and airy chocolate mousse that brings back childhood memories and impresses guests at any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2/3 cup heavy cream, separated
- 1 cup chocolate chips (semisweet or dark)
- 1 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Optional toppings: whipped cream, chocolate shavings
Instructions
- Pour 1/2 cup of heavy cream into a saucepan and heat it until it’s warm but not boiling.
- Once the cream is warm, add the chocolate chips. Stir until they melt and turn into a smooth chocolate mixture.
- In a separate bowl, whip the remaining 2/3 cup of heavy cream until it forms soft peaks.
- Now, sprinkle in the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt into the whipped cream. Keep whipping until you see stiff peaks form.
- Carefully fold the melted chocolate mixture into the whipped cream until just combined. Go slow; you want to keep it airy!
- Spoon the mousse into your serving dishes and cover them. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
- Just before serving, feel free to top it with whipped cream and chocolate shavings for that extra touch.
Notes
For best results, use high-quality chocolate and chill your mixing bowl before whipping the cream.
