Description

Indulge in this rich and airy chocolate mousse that brings back childhood memories and impresses guests at any gathering.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2/3 cup heavy cream, separated
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semisweet or dark)
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Optional toppings: whipped cream, chocolate shavings

Instructions

  1. Pour 1/2 cup of heavy cream into a saucepan and heat it until it’s warm but not boiling.
  2. Once the cream is warm, add the chocolate chips. Stir until they melt and turn into a smooth chocolate mixture.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip the remaining 2/3 cup of heavy cream until it forms soft peaks.
  4. Now, sprinkle in the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt into the whipped cream. Keep whipping until you see stiff peaks form.
  5. Carefully fold the melted chocolate mixture into the whipped cream until just combined. Go slow; you want to keep it airy!
  6. Spoon the mousse into your serving dishes and cover them. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
  7. Just before serving, feel free to top it with whipped cream and chocolate shavings for that extra touch.

Notes

For best results, use high-quality chocolate and chill your mixing bowl before whipping the cream.
