Description
A rich, buttery Croissant Bake layered with golden croissant pieces soaked in a creamy custard and baked to perfection ideal for brunch, breakfast, or a cozy weekend treat.
Ingredients
6 large croissants, torn into chunks
6 large eggs
2 cups milk
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp butter, melted
Powdered sugar, for dusting
Maple syrup or fresh berries, for serving
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
2. Arrange the torn croissant pieces evenly in the dish.
3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
4. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissants, pressing them gently to help soak up the liquid.
5. Drizzle melted butter over the top.
6. Let the mixture rest for 10–15 minutes to allow the croissants to absorb the custard.
7. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
8. Remove from oven and cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar.
9. Serve warm with maple syrup, whipped cream, or fresh berries.
Notes
For a savory version, skip the sugar and add cheese, ham, and herbs instead.
Use slightly stale croissants — they absorb the custard better.
This recipe can be assembled the night before and baked in the morning for an easy make-ahead breakfast.
