Description

Enjoy making Tempura Sushi Rolls filled with crispy tempura shrimp, creamy avocado, and refreshing cucumber for a delightful meal.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 lb tempura shrimp
  • 1 cucumber, julienned
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 4 sheets nori
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Soy sauce for serving
  • Wasabi for serving

Instructions

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Combine the rinsed rice and water in a pot and bring it to a boil.
  3. Reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for about 20 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let it sit for another 10 minutes.
  5. Mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl until fully dissolved.
  6. Fold this mixture into the cooked rice and cool to room temperature.
  7. Prepare the tempura shrimp according to the package instructions.
  8. Lay a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat and spread a thin layer of sushi rice over it.
  9. Layer the tempura shrimp, cucumber, and avocado on top of the rice.
  10. Roll the sushi tightly using the bamboo mat, sealing the edge with a little water.
  11. Slice the sushi roll into bite-sized pieces.
  12. Serve with soy sauce and wasabi on the side.

Notes

Use a sharp knife for cleaner cuts and practice rolling for the best results.
