Description

A delightful and simple Margherita pizza topped with fresh mozzarella and basil.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour and salt to the mixture. Knead until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface.
  6. Spread tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a border.
  7. Top with mozzarella slices and basil leaves.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until crust is golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and season with salt and pepper.

Notes

For a crispier crust, preheat the baking stone before placing the pizza on it.
