Description

A traditional Italian Margherita pizza with fresh basil, mozzarella, and a flavorful tomato sauce.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Mix flour and salt in a bowl. Add yeast mixture and olive oil. Knead until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C).
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  6. Spread crushed tomatoes on the dough and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Top with slices of mozzarella and fresh basil.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until crust is golden.

Notes

For a crispier crust, use a pizza stone.
