Description

A traditional Italian margherita pizza with fresh mozzarella, basil, and a homemade tomato sauce.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar; let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and knead into a dough.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  6. Spread tomato sauce evenly over the dough.
  7. Top with mozzarella slices and season with salt and pepper.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

For a crispier crust, use a pizza stone in the oven.
