Description
A traditional Italian margherita pizza with fresh mozzarella, basil, and a homemade tomato sauce.
Ingredients

- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced
- Fresh basil leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar; let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and knead into a dough.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Spread tomato sauce evenly over the dough.
- Top with mozzarella slices and season with salt and pepper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
Notes
For a crispier crust, use a pizza stone in the oven.
