Description

Delightful red velvet cookies topped with chocolate kisses, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 7 tbsp butter (salted or unsalted, softened)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/4 tsp red food coloring gel
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup red sanding sugar
  • 18 Hershey chocolate kisses

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a stand mixer, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until smooth.
  3. Add the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and red food coloring, mixing until combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt, mixing just until the flour mixture disappears.
  5. Scoop out 18 equally sized cookie dough balls, roll them in red sanding sugar, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes.
  7. Press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie immediately after removing from the oven.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.

Notes

Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. You can freeze them for up to three months.
