Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Za’tar flatbreads perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 23 tablespoons za’tar spice blend
  • Extra olive oil for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water and sugar in a bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Mix flour and salt in a large bowl. Make a well in the center and add yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Mix until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  6. Punch down the risen dough, divide into small balls, and roll each into a flat round shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Place the rolled dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with za’tar.
  8. Bake for about 8-10 minutes, until the edges turn golden brown. Drizzle with more olive oil before serving.

Notes

Allow flatbreads to cool slightly before serving for best texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
