Description

A comforting dish featuring chicken breasts glazed with a sweet and spicy honey pepper sauce, served over creamy macaroni and cheese.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons freshly cracked black pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon red chili flakes

Instructions

  1. Start by drying the chicken breasts with paper towels.
  2. Season both sides of the chicken with salt and cracked black pepper.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat and cook the chicken for 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. Remove the chicken from the skillet and let it rest.
  5. Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook until fragrant.
  6. Add honey, soy sauce, remaining black pepper, and red chili flakes; let it simmer until thick.
  7. Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon sauce over it.
  8. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook elbow macaroni for 8-9 minutes.
  9. In another saucepan, melt remaining butter and whisk in flour to form a roux.
  10. Slowly whisk in milk until thickened, then add cheese and mix in macaroni.
  11. Serve the mac and cheese topped with sliced chicken and sauce.

Notes

Pairs well with a green salad or steamed vegetables. Leftovers can be stored for up to 3 days in the fridge.
