- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- Fresh basil leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl and let it sit until frothy.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture and knead into a dough.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and place it on a pizza stone.
- Spread crushed tomatoes evenly over the dough and season with salt and pepper.
- Arrange the mozzarella slices on top of the tomatoes.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
Notes
For a crispier crust, use a pizza stone and preheat it with the oven.
