Delightful crispy pastries filled with savory ground beef, chicken, or cheese, perfect for gatherings or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Tortillas
  • 1 pound ground beef or shredded chicken or cheese
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, then sauté until they soften and turn fragrant.
  3. Next, add your choice of ground beef or shredded chicken. Cook until it browns nicely.
  4. Season the mixture with cumin, coriander, salt, and pepper to taste.
  5. Take a tortilla and place some of the filling in the center. Fold it over and seal the edges tightly.
  6. Heat more oil in a separate pan and fry the sambusas until they turn a golden brown on both sides.
  7. Once they’re all done, drain the sambusas on paper towels and serve while hot!

Notes

For variety, try different fillings like feta cheese, spinach, or lentils for a vegetarian option. Serve with yogurt sauce or salsa.
