Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a mixing bowl.
- Heat the milk and butter in a small saucepan until warm.
- Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and stir until a cohesive dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes on a floured surface.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it, allowing it to rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- Roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness and cut doughnut shapes.
- Allow the shaped doughnuts to rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Heat oil to 375°F (190°C) in a deep fryer or large pot.
- Fry the doughnuts in batches until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes each side.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels, dusting with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
These doughnuts are best served warm and can be enjoyed with fresh fruit or coffee. You can freeze leftovers for up to 2 months.
